What do you do to prevent or redirect boredom?
63Remedies for Boredom
The first way to prevent or redirect your boredom would be to ask yourself questions like "why do I get bored in the first place?" "At what times of the day do I find myself the most bored?" or "Is there something I'm trying to avoid to which boredom seems to be a better alternative?"
After you answer these questions, you can get a clearer picture of why you get bored and what you can do to prevent it or redirect it.
There are many ways to alleviate boredom. Some of them involve alleviating them at the computer or alleviating them when you're outside, or alleviating them when you're watching television.
Example: Internet
The internet used to seem like a boring place to me. I'd try looking up a solution to my problem, I'd get 10,000 hits, and I'd shut the internet off.
But here are a few websites I've found that are some of the most entertaining and fun to look at:
1. Ross the Intern -http://youtube.com/watch?v=pJByAQ11hTg
This vibrant charming guy was featured on Celebrity Fit Club and does feature news reports for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. This is one of his funniest bits-in my opinion, anyway :)
2. Ross the Intern (at home)
Ross went on to do a video blog of his own, at http://blog.nbc.com/ross_blog/
There you can see his witty remarks on all sorts of day to day things, from his viewer fan mail to his everloving dog Louise.
3. Godcast
God does a Podcast. A bit like the Tonight Show, God banters on about the Earth's entertainment news as well as what adjustments he has to make to the Bible (which his ghostwriter forgot to include)

4. Homestar
A bit like the Simpsons meets That 70's show, this cartoon show geared towards viewers 12 and up and shows a bunch of cartoon characters hanging around their town and how they interact with eachother. One of the best parts of the site is when a character called Strongbad checks his email (a category listed in grey at the bottom on the page).

5. Evolution of Dance
An entertaining look at how dance evolved through the ages, from the 1950's to modern day pop music. .

Outside Activities to Do
1. Taking a class: This can be any typoe of class, from dance, to Judo, to writing or cooking. Not only does it give you something to do, but it also helps you meet other people...who also wanted something to do.
2. Journalling in the Park: Do you have a burning desire to write? Maybe you were once interested in writing but have forgotten due to other complications in your life. Maybe getting a $5 journal and pen and writing in the out of doors is all you need to get those creative juices flowing again.
3. Shopping This can be an expensive way of alleviating boredom, but it's a good way to get out and do something. And also observe others to see what they are doing. If you can't buy anything yourself, try asking your friends or family if they need anything and they might give you some money to get them what they want. It will save them the effort of going and at the same time, wuill give you a chance to get some fresh air.
4. People watching. A more inexpensive way for you to get out may be just to go sit on a bench and watch the people pass by. You can make a game of it by asking where you think they are from, where you think they are going, if they have any pets, or what kinds of personality they have.
5. Reading This can be a highly underestimated activity, because when people think of books they can't really think of books that are exciting to read. But how about reading the autobiography of your favorite actress? Or learning about how to be more psychic? Or ways others have become rich? Reading non-fiction books like these can spruce up your day and keep your hours occupied, while keeping your mind active.
Watching Television
A lot of tv shows these days aren't really worth watching. There are often too many commercials to count and whatever is on, one may often forget about once the fourth commercial comes on.
But trying to find a good TV sow may be as easy as looking in your nearest record store. A lot of TV shows in the 80's and 90's were fun to watch and they often made you smile, or else fall off your chair from laughing so hard lol
